An attachment is a longing (or fear) for having the same experience, pleasure again, we had before. But reality, life changes. Things are no longer the same. So we constantly need to compensate for those changes. This compensation is a new attachment. Therefor, attachments create new attachments. Having the same experience again is not as fulfilling as the first time. So we want more, better and therefor new attachments.
All these attachments and new attachments require my attention. At a certain point there are so many attachments, I'm busy all the time dealing with my attachments and I forget that I am, where I am, who I am with, I loose touch with reality around me, the here and now, equanimity.
