Equanimity is a strong concept in the sense that it forms the actual detachment and therefor creates my calmness. An important distinction is that one should not fight. There can be pain, there can be a thought, there can be an emotion yet, I stay calm. Once I start fighting these things, a distinction between me and the ´thing´ is created and most of the time, I loose (hmm, maybe all the time, maybe because in the long run I always have to give up...). I try to see it as a cooperation between the thing and myself. I allow the thing to exist however, I do not allow the thing to tell me what I should do. I do nothing. I stay calm. I experience the thing, it is there, it stays there as long as it needs to stay, in the long run it will disappear as there are no things that last for ever...(anitya)
