  • An attachment is a longing (or fear) for having the same experience, pleasure again, we had before. But reality, life changes. Things are no longer the same. So we constantly need to compensate for those changes. This compensation is a new attachment. Therefor, attachments create new attachments. Having the same experience again is not as fulfilling as the first time. So we want more, better and therefor new attachments.
  • All these attachments and new attachments require my attention. At a certain point there are so many attachments, I'm busy all the time dealing with my attachments and I forget that I am, where I am, who I am with, I loose touch with reality around me, the here and now, equanimity.
  • But there is good news: we can get rid of our attachments! And it is so simple. The only thing I need to do is to be aware of the attachment. Once I see it, I can make the decision not to react, to let the attachment be but do nothing about it. Just be aware of the attachment. Too simple may be but I think it is very true.
